This Sunday (17th July at 3.30pm) sees the Isle of Wight ‘Wightlink’ Islanders visit Mildenhall Stadium to face the newly branded Mildenhall ‘KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers. The Fen Tigers will be looking to get their play-off hopes back on track as the race again on home shale for the first time in six weeks.
The ‘KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers blew away some cobwebs on Monday when they battled hard against Cradley before going down 52-38 at Monmore Green, with a revitalised Connor Coles in fine form. Hopefully Danny Halsey will be fit to return to the team on Sunday after missing Monday’s meeting with a re-occurrence of a previous knee problem as the ‘Islanders’ with three ex- Fen Tigers in their seven will provide a serious challenge.
Sunday’s meeting will also see the return of the ‘Stonefield Farm Shop’ Fen Tiger Cubs to MDL action when they face the MK Knights. Two Fen Tigers Sam Bebee and Rob Parker will feature in the Cubs line up as they return to action following injury/illness. Current Cubs squad members Connor King and William O’Keefe will ride for the visitors meaning six Cubs will feature in the second half event.
Looking ahead to the weekend promoter Kevin Jolly was looking forward to a home return, he said “It will be great to see lads back on track again after the recent break, Sunday is the start of a busy few weeks both home and away as we look to secure as many points as possible to maintain our hopes of a play off place. Hopefully Dan (Halsey) will be fit and we can line up with our full seven as we face the ‘Islanders’ as they will be no pushovers. Supporters will be able to get their first sight of our new air fence thanks to our new club partners Manchetts Ltd. This is a very exciting time for the club with both our teams chasing honours and this wonderful tie up with Sean and Mandy Manchett. My enthusiasm has never been greater and I cannot wait for the weekend’.
