The ‘KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers suffered a fourteen point defeat at Eastbourne that has put a serious dent in any lingering play-off hopes, going down 52-38.
Without Connor Mountain the Fen Tigers needed to keep things tight in the early part of the meeting but found themselves 10-2 down after only two races. In form Danny Halsey continued his heavy scoring taking the first of three chequered flags in heat three as he and partner Connor Coles recorded a 4-2 heat advantage but further 5-1’s in heats five and eight saw the Fen Tigers sixteen points down after heat eight.
To their credit Mildenhall won the second part of the meeting but could never get close enough to potentially take away anything from the meeting. After big scores at Buxton and Birmingham Halsey continued to impress with paid fifteen from his six rides and he received good support from Jon Armstrong and Connor Coles, however with little point scoring power from the bottom end Mildenhall were unable to pull the deficit back to single figures and grab an all important away point.
Club Chairman Kevin Jolly was frustrated by today’s result, he said “There is no doubt in my mind we should have claimed something from today. We were not sharp enough out of the gate especially in the early part of the meeting and as a result were always chasing Eastbourne. Danny (Halsey) was exceptional today and seems to have outcome his demons at Eastbourne, it has been an excellent week for him and now he should really push on to the end of the season and look to reclaim the number one slot!
We are not scoring enough points at the bottom end that is obvious today and at Birmingham, it’s not easy for sure for the lads at tracks they have little experience of, but improvement is needed as we still have some big meetings ahead of us”.
