The Mildenhall ‘KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers will have a new start time for the 2017 season as they move to the earlier time of 3pm on a Sunday afternoon.
The club who recently sought the views of supporters on their Facebook group page had been considering the move for a while as promoter Kevin Jolly explained “This move of the start time to 3pm had been on my mind for some time, I have felt it would work on a number of levels. Firstly it gives our wonderful track staff the chance to finish their long day a little earlier and enjoy the opportunity to socialise after the meeting, also with us racing on a Sunday, families with children going to school the following morning will have the chance to get home that little bit earlier which I know from speaking to some supporters is of value to them.
In another forward thinking move the club are pleased to announce Lee Chipchase as the new Commercial Manager for Mildenhall Speedway ahead of the forthcoming season. Chipchase is highly experienced in obtaining sponsorship and raising clubs profiles though his association with Mildenhall Cricket Club and runs his own company Assured Retail Services that specialise in bespoke printing and embroidery for workwear and leisurewear.
Kevin Jolly was pleased to have his experience to call on as the club look to raise their profile in the local community, he said “Lee (Chipchase) is another major signing for us. I have been looking for someone to raise the clubs profile and the general awareness of the clubs existence locally for some time and in Lee I think I have found that person.
It is well known that many of our supporters travel some considerable way to support us and our local support is not as high as you would expect. We need to raise people’s awareness of Mildenhall Speedway in the locality and at the same time attract new sponsors to back-up our excellent main sponsors KJM and Manchetts. Hopefully with his strong local contacts we can see meeting sponsorships improve, an area that remains untapped, and new initiatives that will encourage new faces to join our already loyal core support”
