Popular King's Lynn born racer Connor Mountain has signed for a fourth season with the Mildenhall ‘KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers completing a top three that will replicate the 2016 seasons side.

Since starting as a 3 point reserve at the commencement of the 2014 season Mountains career has moved forward season on season and he will start 2017 as the Fen Tigers number one! His 2016 season ended abruptly with a back injury following a crash at Birmingham, but his recovery has been positive and he is ready and raring to go for what is sure to be a big season following the announcement last week that he has also secured a Championship place with Suffolk’s other speedway club, the Ipswich Witches.

Mountain was pleased to have his future sorted out early, he said “Going into 2017 the Championship (PL) was my main goal and I am delighted that I am able to ride for two of my local clubs Ipswich and Mildenhall. I'm really please that a championship spot with Ipswich allows me to return to the Fen Tigers in 2017. I enjoy being with Mildenhall as it is a real family club with a great group of supporters and I will be looking to hold onto the number one spot all season. As for the injury my recovery has been coming on nicely and I'm working as hard as I can now I'm back in the gym. I can't wait for the season to start so I can start racing my bike again. I would like to wish our fans an early Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year”

Kevin Jolly was relieved to have secured Mountain for a fourth season, “Connor (Mountain) was always at the top of my list for riders to return. He is a pleasure to work with and is a fine example to all up and coming young riders. He is professional both on and off the track, his equipment is always in pristine condition and he has excellent family support. He will start the season at number one and he showed last season that it doesn’t faze him one bit going out in heat one. We will be looking for him to nail that heat for us and set the tone for the meeting ahead, especially at home meetings.

Overall I am very happy with the shape of the side so far and am feeling confident ahead of the coming season. I would like to congratulate Connor Coles on securing a place in the Championship with Newcastle. It means of course he was never able to be considered to return here with both clubs riding on a Sunday, but we accept that as this is what our league is all about and it gives me great pleasure to see both Connor’s making the step up to the Championship. We have made it clear that we want to produce the ‘stars of tomorrow’ here at Mildenhall and hopefully these two boys will be the start of a successful production line of riders coming out of Mildenhall speedway in the future!”

With the signing of Connor Mountain, only three places remain to be filled in the Fen Tigers septet following the earlier signings of Jon Armstrong, Jordan Jenkins and Danny Halsey.
