The ‘KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers bounced back to form on the South Coast with a resilient and hard working performance that saw them claim a valuable away point in their National Trophy group. All seven team members contributed as the Fen Tigers recovered from a first heat 5-1 following a tape exclusion for Connor Mountain and although they only had five heat wins all evening they packed in the minor places in nine of the fifteen races to hold the Eagles to a six point defeat, 48-42.

It could have been even better if not for two tape exclusions for Mountain, and a highly debatable exclusion for the unlucky Luke Ruddick as he passed Charley Powell to join Mountain on a clear 5-1 opportunity. The two exciting 15 year olds on show Tom Brennan and Jordan Jenkins both put in strong performances, Brennan with eleven from five rides whilst Jenkins top scored for the Fen Tigers with an impressive paid fourteen from his seven outings. Connor Mountain scored two impressive heat wins and Danny Halsey looked to be adding his second win of the evening in the race of the night in heat fifteen. However, Eagles number one Mark Baseby had other ideas as he made a breathtaking pass around the outside off the last bend to take victory on the line.

Kevin Jolly was pleased with tonight’s efforts that improve the Fen Tigers chances of making the National Trophy final, he said “Eastbourne is never an easy place to come away with anything from and we worked hard as a unit tonight to take an important point in our challenge for a place in the National Trophy final. The lads all battled well and if anything we deserved even more than we achieved, but that said this sets us up nicely in our group.

With good backing from our loyal travelling support, everyone dug deep and supported each other and we kept picking up important points with only the one last place in the second half of the meeting”
