The ‘KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers will be looking to carry their league form into the post season Play-Offs when they face the Kent ‘SLYDE’ Kings in the 1st leg of the 2018 National League Play-Offs semi final.

It is a rare Friday night meeting (7.30pm start) for the Fen Tigers, only their third in the clubs long history, and they will be looking to continue their domination over their opponents and build a sizable lead to take to Central Park next Monday for the 2nd leg. With 24 and 14 point home wins this season plus two superb away wins at Kent with depleted sides the Fen Tigers go into the meetings confident but aware that what has gone in past rarely impacts the here and now!

Both teams are affected by injury with Mildenhall calling on Ben Morley again to cover for Danny Ayres whilst Kent number one Paul Hurry continues on the sidelines being replaced by Georgie Wood. Morley as always proved a totally reliable guest recently when stepping in for the second leg of the National Trophy final scoring a fine paid ten and is well known to both sets of supporters. Wood continues to be one of the stronger visitors to the Mildenhall track and will certainly be one to watch along with Nathan Stoneman who recorded some big numbers when guesting for Cradley in the aforementioned National Trophy final.

Kevin Jolly was looking forward to a battle royal, he said “The big meetings are upon us now and the lads just need to keep the performance levels up as they have done all season. There were no easy choices to be made when selecting our opponents for this semi final, but we felt Kent was our best option in the circumstances. Although we have had an unblemished record against them this season, that will count for little when the racing gets under way on Friday.

We are looking for a big lead to take to Kent on Monday, and we must ensure we set up the tie on Friday. Ben (Morley) has come in to replace Danny Ayres and has proved an excellent guest whenever we have called upon him, he is a top rider in this league and is always professional and well prepared and is a pleasure to deal with”
