After eight years at the helm of the most successful period in the history of Mildenhall Speedway, Kevin Jolly has announced he is stepping down from his role and that the club is up for sale!

Speaking this morning Jolly said “This has been no knee jerk decision, my wife Gill and I discussed this eighteen months ago and agreed the time had come for us to step away from the day to day running of a speedway club. We have loved our time at Mildenhall and hope everyone has enjoyed sharing our success, not only the trophies won but in seeing so many talented youngsters come through the Mildenhall ranks.

When I look back and think of Cameron Heeps, Joe Jacobs, Lewis Blackbird, Stefan Nielsen, Josh Bates, Connor Mountain, Tom Bacon and now Drew Kemp who all were at Mildenhall before going on to ply their trade in higher leagues I feel that we have achieved what we set out to do. They are just a few and there have been others and there are more to come with the likes of Sam, Jordan and Matt improving all the time.

Our decision to step away at the end of 2018 was a big driver to put together a team to remember in our final year, and I think we have done just that with the wonderful performances that you have seen on track from the 2018 team who all have been an absolute pleasure to work with.

There are far too many people to thank here, but I would like to thank Trevor Murkin of KJM Road Sweepers and Sean and Mandy Manchett from Manchetts for not only their sponsorship but their great support that has allowed us to continue to improve the club, also to everyone else who has sponsored the club during my eight years thank you for your help in keeping Mildenhall Speedway alive and kicking. I would also like to thank James Easter, Robert Henry, Phil Kirk and Lee Chipchase for their consistent backing, honestly and hard work supporting me through the years, the incredible track staff and many helpers behind the scenes who are all part of the Mildenhall family and ensured our meetings took place and finally our brilliant supporters, you are the best in the land.

This has been no easy decision and we sincerely hope that someone will come in and carry on our work, Mildenhall Speedway is a wonderful club that holds a special place in our hearts and hopefully it will continue to prosper for years to come.”
